Powering Our Communities

CMP powers hundreds of communities across Maine. We are part of the local fabric, and like our neighbors, taking care of one another is what we do.

It’s our great honor to partner with 100+ nonprofits across the state—supporting everything from fighting food insecurity to veteran recalibration. Together, this is how we power on.

How we are helping

Mask Donation

We are proud to announce a donation of 6,000 surplus protective masks to the Maine Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) to support statewide needs for protective gear for medical personnel fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

Full Plates Full Potential

We’re proud to have made a financial contribution to Full Plates, Full Potential—focused on providing meals to children in need.

Maine Blue Collar Scholarship Foundation

We are pleased to recognize the value of the trades by making a $10,000 donation to the Maine Blue Collar Scholarship Foundation. This foundation provides critical financial assistance to students pursuing a career in the trades. The program recently announced more than 80 new recipients across Maine!

We are proud to support EqualityMaine as its new top-level Visionary Sponsor. This $20,000 donation to the EqualityMaine Foundation will support community education programming and services. Our values are aligned in that we strive to create safe, welcoming environments that promote equality for our LGBTQ employees and customers.

Hallowell Food Bank

Central Maine Power is proud to partner with several of Maine’s local food banks. See more details for the Hallowell Food Bank.

My Place Teen Center

We are happy to donate $5,000 to support the work of My Place Teen Center in Westbrook, which gives at-risk teens a supportive place to go.

Maine State Chamber Book Drive

“The pandemic has created many challenges for all of us, every day. For young people, it’s created a challenge for them to learn, and these books help bridge that gap and provide them an opportunity to read and open up the world to a lifetime of learning.”
-Doug Herling, CMP President & CEO

Augusta Food Bank

During COVID, it’s especially important to work against food insecurity. So that’s exactly what we are doing locally with organizations like the Augusta Food Bank.
